Chinese courts resolve more disputes through pre
Chinese courts nationwide concluded around 8.75 million cases of various types in the first quarter of this year, among which over 2.49 million were resolved through pre-litigation mediation, said the Supreme People's Court (SPC).
More than 3.82 million disputes went through pre-litigation mediation by courts during the period, marking a 13.69 percent increase year on year.
Pre-litigation mediation has played an effective role in resolving disputes, the SPC said.
Data from the SPC shows that, from January to March, courts across the country handled 11 million cases in total, and saw decreases in the number of civil and commercial cases, administrative cases and enforcement cases from the same period last year.
A people's court mediation platform established by the SPC has been further promoted to reach the grassroots level.
By the end of March, 157,000 primary-level governance units, 34,000 professional mediation organizations and 77,000 mediators have engaged in the mediation work.
